Phase 1

Building The Idea

Commonalities
As a group, we each had an interest in cooking, trying new foods, health, and getting rid of our horrible period symptoms.

Reasoning
Did you know that less than 60% of women know that there are 4 phases of their menstrual cycle?

What we created
Introducing twentyate, a holistic, accessible nutrition zine that provides readers with seasonal recipes that go with each phase of a woman’s cycle.

Phase 2

Research

Secondary
First order of business was to learn the basics, like what are the four phases of a woman’s cycle? Luteal, Follicular, Ovulation, Menstrual. Then we discovered what foods can be eaten during each phases to help alleviate symptoms.

Focus Group
We hosted luncheons where we made a few of recipes for attendees to try and gave them a safe space to talk about their cycle symptoms with the group.

Survey
We sent out a survey to collect data about participants period symptoms, educational level around their menstrual cycle, and what type of media they used to learn more about these topics.

60%
of respondents didn’t know that there were four phases of the menstrual cycle

25%
of respondents didn’t know that they could adjust their nutrition to support hormonal balance

Phase 3

Communications

Influencer Comms
Since none of the team had experience in recipe curation, we externally sourced them from none other than online content creators.

From our hand crafted list we contacted creators through email to see if they would allow us to use their recipes.

And trust me lot of emails were sent.

Social Strategy
We created an Instagram account for our newfound community where they could find our mission for twentyate and our invitations to our next events.

We encouraged our followers to share pictures from our events and share their favorite recipes that they tried at the luncheon for engagement.

Our messaging was aimed to be friendly, educational, and light-hearted.
