Book Reviews

This story depicts the kind of love that’s painful and raw. There’s at least one character in this book that you can relate to. This story follows the origin and demise of the beloved band called daisy jones and the six. I promise you, they take you on a wild ride.

Taylor Jenkins Reid has some of the most beautiful storytelling in her novels. Malibu Rising, like most of her others, pulled on my heart. This story follows the life of a girl and her siblings who are the children of a famous rockstar. all in one night, grow to see each of the children for who they are as their own person and what it’s like growing up under the spotlight. My one critique is that the ending seemed unneccessary for the plot of the story. I get why Reid did it, but i do believe there could’ve been a better way to end the book.

Firefly Lane is a book about two girls from different who became life long friends. They grew up with two drastically different upbringings, but connected over one thing, being lonely. They bond at youth and dream big for their future lives together. The story follows them through high school, college, early careers, families, and much more. From this story I felt hope, pain, betrayal, love, anger, and sadness. I finished the ending chunk of this book in a flowing river of tears. I connected with these characters so much.

The turns of this book is a prime example of how plot twists may be more bad than good. The whole book from the started seemed very realistic. Nothing that involved crime or ransom. So you’ll understand my surprise when those elements showed up towards the end of the book. And there are almost too many plot twists that we very unnecessary for the plot. It was a page turner though and I’m excited to read the other books in the series.

This was a story that had my feelings conflicted on what was the right choice. Do you do right by the person you love or by what society deems as acceptable. At this point the end of every book that I read makes me emotional 😂, but this one took a piece of my heart with it. I have to give a trigger warning because there are some difficult topics in this story. This is an enemies to lovers and boss / employee trope which I usually don’t go for but this time it wasn’t unbearingly painful.  I heard there was a sequel but I believe that the author should’ve just kept it to one book.

An American Marriage is a book about injustice, passion, guilt, anger, betrayal, family ties, love, and so much more. Talk about a messy and complicated book morally and ethically, this surely falls under that category. I genuinely feel for every single character and their circumstances. This book could’ve ended on of two ways and if it didn’t end the way that it did, I wouldn’t have been okay. I appreciate the amount of detail and backstory that the author gives. It feels like I truly know the ends and outs of each of the characters lives.
